A graduate of Cornell University in political science and economics with Air Force officer training, Gerry Balcar began hi career in management consulting with the one of the first firms to use computers as a management tool. He was then Assistant to the President of two holding companies in aerospace, metals and pharmaceuticals and became a corporate vice president in marketing, government relations and planning of an American multinational for 20 years. In this capacity he directed, and was chief spokesman for, the lobby that presented the highly successful High Way Safety Act of 1973 to the US Congress. This changed the focus of dealing with the highway accident crisis of the time by switching the emphasis of funding to safety engineering of the roads. He has the experience of marshalling a bill through the long and detailed processes of Capitol Hill and seeing to re-authorizations and has appeared before many Congressional Sub Committees and built a coalition. As an entrepreneur he established a waste to product manufacturer and then Olin Frederick, Inc. with the goal of challenging the American political establishment to define the truths of issues, face them and create meaningful dialog and debate.
